We are faced with different forms of pollution. Air pollution, water pollution, and noise pollution are just part of them.

As to air pollution, it is most serious in big cities. There are many causes for it. Factories emit all kinds of poisonous gas and water carelessly. Automobiles give off much waste gas. Now even in some part of countryside air is no longer as clean and pure as before. Obviously, air pollution is threatening our health and becoming a killer in cities. Since we breathe in the polluted air, many of us have diseases caused by pollution. In addition, air pollution does great harm to animals and plants. The environment is polluted and it endangers the existence of human beings.

People drink water from rivers, lakes or wells. Actually water in some rivers and lakes are badly polluted. Factories along the rivers pour poisonous or waste water into them. Some chemicals from factories are toxic and even fatal to people’s life. On the other hand, people dump garbage and sewage into rivers and lakes, which also pollute water. As a result, if we drink the polluted water day after day, we may become ill. Many cases show that people get cancer or some strange diseases because they drink the contaminated water.

Noise pollution is also very serious in our life. Traffic is the main cause of noise pollution in cities. Endless cars, buses, trucks are running day and night along streets. They make terrible noise. There are many construction sites in big cities and the loud noise in those places disturbs the city residents greatly. Since the new housing policy is being carried out, the city residents buy their own private houses or flats. Their decoration also makes terrible noise to the neighbors. Noise pollution disturbs people greatly. They may feel upset, depressed and have high pressure. They can’t go to sleep at night and can’t concentrate on their work. Therefore, their work efficiency is very low. If they live in a noisy environment for a long time, they may get serious diseases and break down in the end.
