Living in the competitive modern world, everybody is faced with great stress and stress may come from different aspects. As far as students are concerned, their greatest stress comes from their desire to be able to go to a prestigious university. The number of the students who can pursue their study in famous higher educational institutions is rather limited, so the competition is really tough. In order to do well in the national entrance examination, students study day and night, and they have great mental stress.
Financial burden may be the source of stress to many young people. For example, there are students from the countryside who can¡¯t even afford their tuition fee to the university, and they should find some jobs so as to support themselves and their families.
There is a complex relationship among the people now and they have to deal with it well. At work they must do well to please their leaders or bosses and must also get along well with their workmates. Dealing with people needs skills and it may also exert some pressure on them.
After four years¡¯ study, students must go to find a suitable and satisfactory job, but now it seems more and more difficult for them to get such a job because of competition, especially in cities. Even when they go to work in society, they¡¯ll have other pressure, such as getting married and forming a family. If they hold a very good job, they don¡¯t want to lose it and they have to balance between their family and work. In the fierce competition, sometimes they have to sacrifice for their work or for family. So the modern people sometimes feel quite exhausted.
To the young people stress also results from personal psychological factors. For example, some students are introverted persons and they are unsociable and sensitive. They may have more stress in life because they will take what others say and do very seriously and may find it more difficult to get over frustrations, difficulties and hardships.
Their stress also comes from their dear old parents because they hold great expectations on them. Parents all hope that their children may become very talented persons, being able to do great things or earn much money. They impose strict disciplines and various training on them. So many young people are burdened with their parents¡¯ hope and great expectations.
