There are countless advantages computers bring to us. I will mainly discuss these three aspects, writing, hospitals, and research work.
Computers make writing easier for writers. Writers traditionally use pen and paper to write their stories, novels but now they can use computers to do the work and it¡¯ll save them much time and effort. The biggest advantage is that they can proofread and correct directly on computers without having to write several drafts.
Computers help hospitals a great deal. They are used in hospital management and treatment. For example, surgeons can use computers to do the most complicated operations. Computers can be used to keep patients¡¯ cases. Computers can be used to monitor patients and give them very good care.
Computers facilitate scientific research work. They solve some mathematic problems very accurately and fast, and they do calculation at an amazing speed. With the help of computers, scientists can collect their data, analyze their data and write reports more conveniently and efficiently.
Computers also have disadvantages. I will focus on the following three aspects, health, crime and laziness.
Sitting before a computer for a long time may do harm to our eyes. Many students become near-sighted just because they immerse themselves in computer games. Computers may effect people¡¯s health, because it emits certain rays or sends out radiation which is harmful to people¡¯s health and they may even cause malformation to the baby.
Computer crimes appear as computers came into being. Hackers may attack a website, destroy the database, steal important information from companies, and even pose a threat to national security, which might cause great damage and loss.
Computers make our life more convenient but they make us lazier. The young people absorbed in computers won¡¯t want to do their work. There are students who don¡¯t write their papers. They just download others articles and hand them in as theirs. There are a group of people called ¡°NEET¡±, which means a group of people ranging from 18 to 32 in age, who are not in education, employment or training. Most of these people are computer-addicted.
