ShanghaiĄŻs transportation system does have shortcomings. IĄŻll just deal with three of them.

First, traffic jams are still a headache. Especially during rush hours, never-ending lines of cars are stalled at intersections while thousands of people are packed and crammed into buses. For a few hours the city becomes a giant sardine can.

Second is the service quality. Shanghai conductors are notorious for being rude and surly to non-Shanghainese which doesnĄŻt match the image of shanghai as a great metropolis.

Third, and the worst shortcoming, is the dangerous lack of attention to traffic rules and regulations by Shanghainese people themselves. People break traffic rules at anytime and anywhere which creates treacherous conditions.

Though there still exists many a serious problem, the municipal government has done much to tackle the problems and has improved the traffic significantly in the past decade. ItĄŻs my hope that under the guidance of the leaders and with the cooperation of common citizens, transportation and traffic in Shanghai will continue to improve.
