Tourism, a smokeless industry, is developing rapidly in China. With the opening and reform policy being carried out, thousands upon thousands of foreign visitors are crowding into our country. They are eager to see this old mysterious land with a splendid culture of more than 5,000 years. For Chinese, with the increase of income and with the introduction of two 7-day holidays, we can afford both the expenses and time for traveling.
Tourism brings China a lot of benefits. First, it enables the Chinese people to know more about the outside world and different parts in China. Second, it also promotes friendship and understanding among people. Third, it is financially beneficial to China, which needs promoting people¡¯s purchasing power to invigorate its market for the modernization program.
Tourism, however, gives rise to a number of problems. For instance, it becomes a burden to inefficient transportation system. When visitors go traveling, they have difficulty in getting the tickets. Another urgent problem is the accommodation in the scenic spots. Since there is large number of people going to the same place, there are not enough hotels for them. Service is also an easy target to be complained. The service of travel agencies, restaurants, hotels, and scenic spots is not so desirable. And the biggest problem is the crowdedness in scenic spots. There are too many people rushing to the same scenic spots at that same time.
I believe there is a bright future in tourism in China as time goes by. There are so many places worth seeing and people are just beginning to realize the importance of traveling. Since it is a sunrise industry for China, we should lean from other countries to provide a high-quality tourist service for people all over the world. A much better and more promising future awaits us.
